Causes
An inflammatory reaction often associated with allergies (flea, food or environmental). The underlying cause is almost always allergic.
Diagnosis
Examination of the lesions + cytology. KEY: finding and treating the underlying allergy.
Treatment
Treating the inflammation and, above all, identifying and controlling the allergy that triggers it (strict flea control, an elimination diet). If the cause is not treated, it recurs.
Prevention
Strict flea control, managing underlying allergies.
