Causes
Adult fleas live on the animal, but 95% of the population (eggs, larvae, pupae) is in the environment: carpets, sofas, cracks. That is why they reappear if the house is not treated.
Diagnosis
Direct observation of fleas or their droppings using a flea comb.
Treatment
A good-quality external antiparasitic (spot-on, tablet, collar). Treat ALL the animals in the household. Environmental treatment: vacuum thoroughly and wash textiles at 60°C for several weeks.
Prevention
External antiparasitic all year round (not just in summer). Regular vacuuming of the house.
