Causes
Deep facial folds that accumulate moisture, tears and food debris. Brachycephalic breeds (Bulldog, Pug, Pekingese) and Persian cats are the most affected.
Diagnosis
Examination of the folds + cytology.
Treatment
Daily cleaning and drying of the folds, along with topical antimicrobial treatment. In severe or recurrent cases, surgery to reduce the folds.
Prevention
Clean and dry the folds daily, especially in brachycephalic breeds.
