Causes
A diet unsuited to the species: lack of variety, poorly dosed supplements, incorrect foods. It is a husbandry problem, not something contagious.
Diagnosis
Examination by an exotics vet plus a thorough review of the diet and the vivarium.
Treatment
Correct the diet and supplementation according to the specific species. Some cases require additional veterinary treatment. Deformities that have already formed cannot be reversed.
Prevention
Research the nutritional needs of the specific species thoroughly before acquiring a reptile. A varied diet and correct supplementation.
