Causes
The Cheyletiella mite, spread by direct contact. Common in puppies, kittens and rabbits from breeders or pet shops.
Diagnosis
Examination with adhesive tape or a superficial skin scraping under the microscope.
Treatment
Specific antiparasitic treatments (many modern spot-on products cover it). Treat all animals in contact as well as the environment.
Prevention
Regular external antiparasitic treatment, quarantine of new animals.
