Causes
Ancylostoma worms. The larvae are transmitted through faeces, the mother's milk or by penetrating the skin. Common in warm, humid environments.
Diagnosis
A faecal test to detect the parasite's eggs.
Treatment
An internal wormer following the vet's regimen. Puppies with severe anaemia may need additional supportive care. Frequent worming in puppies.
Prevention
Regular internal worming, good hygiene, picking up faeces, avoiding contaminated ground.
