🍽️ Nutrition
A pellet base with plenty of vegetables and greens, moderate fruit and nuts only as a treat. Cuttlebone and mineral supplement for calcium. Avoid avocado, chocolate, salt and caffeine.
✂️ Grooming
Produces a lot of feather dust (a significant allergen): it needs frequent showers or baths and a well-ventilated home. The beak and nails are kept in check with branches and toys.
🎓 Training
Very intelligent and affectionate (a velcro bird): it learns with positive reinforcement, but too much coddling creates dependence. Consistency and enrichment prevent screaming and feather plucking.
🏃 Exercise
It needs several hours a day out of the cage, physical exercise and a constant flow of destruction and foraging toys; it is one of the most demanding parrots.
